Okay, okay the end of school might not be here just yet. The weather is getting nicer and summer is just on the horizon. It can make anyone excited, especially kids. They have been working hard all year in school and finally can see the freedom summer has to offer.
Helping them get through the last few weeks of school might be a struggle. Here are a few ways to get your kids focused and ready for the summer ahead.
Pick up a calendar from your local store or order one online. If you are super crafty or really want your kids to have fun with it, have them create a calendar of their own. They can color and decorate it as they wish. Make the last day of school very bright and bold, so it is quite obvious for them to see it.
As each day comes to an end, have them either cross it off or put a sticker on the day to mark it being over. Their little eyes will light up as they see the days remaining getting smaller and smaller.
Popsicle Stick Jar
With summer quickly approaching you may want to take your kids on fun little excursions. Sit down and brainstorm some ideas on where they might like to go this summer. Figure out which ideas are actually doable and write each idea on a separate popsicle stick.
Again, if you want to make it a little more exciting, you can have them decorate the popsicle sticks. Buying the wider sticks will make it easier for the kids to decorate. Having them use glitter, paint or stickers will have them antsy for summer to start! Whether you want to go weekly or every other week on these fun excursions, is up to you.
Having your kids excited about summer is a wonderful thing! You can make wonderful memories without breaking the bank. When they are grown, they will remember the time spent together rather than the money spent. Teach them to enjoy being together, to enjoy the little things in life.
